Spending New Year’s in the Party Capital of the World – Barcelona
Most people start planning how they are going to celebrate New Year’s Eve on 1 January of the year and this very short list will convince you to celebrate the end of a fantastic year with a fantastic party (or few) in Barcelona.
Let’s have a Knockdown, Drag out Rock ‘n’ Roll Party in the Streets
The locals in Barcelona know how to party and there is clearly no better way than on the streets. Although there are no official fireworks displays as in other places, the locals and tourists alike light their own in the streets and on balconies. One of the best places for celebrating is in Plaza Catalunya. This is the city centre of Barcelona and it’s surrounded by cafés, monuments, fountains, shops and bars. Here you’ll find plenty of likeminded people getting ready to ring in the New Year. Just off the Plaza you’ll find the infamous La Rambla. There is no better place to celebrate and party than in this tree lined, 1.2km long street. People will be dancing, singing, drinking and having an incredible time.
Three Coins in the Fountain
Known as the Magic Fountain, the fountain in Plaça d’Espanya is a beautiful sight to behold. This will be a great place to say ola to 2015 as the fountain puts on an amazing show of lights, colour and music. This 85 year tradition and top attraction will not disappoint and you will want to see this magical show over and over again.
Don’t Stop the Party
When you’re in Barcelona you have to spend your time at the beach and New Year’s is the perfect excuse to party there. There is a little something for everyone, from exclusive and glamorous clubs to port clubs that overlook docked yachts. These beach clubs have fantastic bars where you can order delicious drinks, grab a little snack and then proceed to dance up a storm. As the locals say, ‘Tener un Feliz Año Nuevo en Barcelona’ and make sure that it is an unforgettable experience.
