Five Styles of Shoe Every Girl Should Own
When it comes to your wardrobe, there are certain staples that should belong in every girl’s closet. The maxi dress, the LBD, the jeans, the outfit for fat days, the killer cocktail dress – we all know the drill, but there is also a similar rule for footwear, designed to mix and match with those essential wardrobe pieces, and fit into any circumstances.
If your shoe cupboard doesn’t contain any of the five items you will find listed below, perhaps it’s time you went shopping!
Now, the general rule of thumb is you need a pair of killer heels, the kind that stop traffic and that generally look amazing when you’re sat down. Why? Because you basically can’t walk in them without causing yourself significant pain. I guess you have to weigh up the pros and cons of a pair of heels as to how high you go, and indeed what kind of heel you go for – can you walk in a pair of stilettos? Or do you prefer a broader heel? I would suggest a pair of mid-height heels with a slightly thicker heel for anyone who isn’t so used to tottering around on stilts.
Following on from heels, wedges are a must-have, and the good news is that they’re infinitely easier to walk in! Perfect for summer, teemed with a pair of jeans or to toughen up a girly dress, you should have a pair of dark, and a pair of light, meaning you have an option for every kind of outfit.
Comfortable, goes with everything, fashionable, summery – everyone loves a pair of sandals. Reef has some fantastic surfer-style women’s sandals, perfect for summer or for those who prefer a more laid-back, classy look, and have a huge range available. For summer fashion, which is essentially what sandals are about, you need to be thinking something that fits with most outfits, something you can walk in without cringing, and you want to meet the pair of sandals that will take you through summer, to the point where when you finally break up, it’s just as painful as a relationship!
These are probably the best suggestion there is for work situations, because this way you get to be fashionable, comfortable, and usually fit into most workplace dress code policies! From work into evening, a pair of comfortable but fashionable ballet pumps will meet all situations, and they also look great for a low-key evening out, or a daytime outfit with jeans. You need a pair of black if nothing else, but a pair of brightly coloured flats are fun and flirty.
Now, I own a pair of knee high leather boots that I love, granted they don’t love me because the heel is too high, but I will never part with them. Every girl needs a pair of suede knee high boots, usually to wear over leggings or jeans, or maybe with bare legs in winter, but they need to funk up an outfit but serve a practical purpose too. For rainy days your boots will save your outfit.
So, if you find yourself without one of the above, it’s time to hit the High Street, ladies!
